COP Civil Society Reports

Philippine civil society organizations have collectively played an influential role in the discourse of the annual Conference of Parties (COPs) to the UNFCCC, from within the halls of the negotiations to mobilizations on the streets of the host-city. Yet without proper documentation of their accomplishments, the challenges they have faced, and the principles they have stood for, their collective contributions are at risk of being lost amidst climate policymaking at different scales.

As part of the initiative under the current AKP leadership, the COP Civil Society Report is an annual publication that documents the perspectives and actions of Philippine delegates from civil society and representatives of the most climate-vulnerable communities during the UN climate negotiations. These publications aim to preserve institutional memory, serving as windows through which policymakers, future climate advocates, and other stakeholders can view what truly goes on in the climate COPs. They also celebrate the culture of passion and compassion that Philippine CSOs bring to the proceedings inside and outside of the conference venue, highlighting what it truly means to fight for the type of climate action our nation and our world truly needs.

So far, the series has featured the activities of Philippine CSOs during the following climate COPs:

  • UNFCCC COP28, Dubai, United Arab Emirates; and
  • UNFCCC COP29, Baku, Azerbaijan – including UNFCCC SB62, Bonn, Germany.
